Bold Perseverance

Bold Perseverance

Have you found yourself wavering over God’s promise in your life? Do you have a bold dream but you are afraid to take a risk? Have you already stepped out in faith, but things aren’t going according to plan and you feel like giving up?

Bold Perseverance

Refuse to Ever Let Go of Your Dream

Bold perseverance holds on when everyone else gives up.

What do you want to accomplish in this life? What are the dreams that you think about.

Thomas Edison would never have invented the light bulb if he didn’t learn from his mistakes. Although he failed thousands of times, his failure propelled him towards success. What if this scientific man with a dream would have given up? He wouldn’t have the honor of changing the world through his invention.

Every Child-Like Heart Has a God-Sized Dream

Character

Every child-like heart has a God-sized dream.

As a child of God, we get to hold daddy-God’s hand as we discover the possibilities in front of us. There is no striving in our own strength. Bold perseverance is resting in the immovable strength of God.

Every child has super-powers: with capes waving in the wind they are super-man leaping over buildings or wonder woman with her lasso. Children dream God-sized dreams. It’s only adults that stifle dreams. Worn-out, discourage, exhausted, afraid, overwhelmed we quit.

No wonder Jesus lifted up a child as an example of faith. He called us to become like little children again.

My Favorite Question

If you had all of the money that you needed and knew that you wouldn’t fail, what would you do?

I like to ask this question because it gives the opportunity to dream again. Adults are concerned about money. We also hate to fail. So, we stop dreaming. Then, when we step out and try and things don’t go as we planned we are tempted to give up.

What if I told you that you can’t fail — if you don’t give up!

I’m not recommending that you twist facts around to try to paint an instagram-perfect-world. I’m talking about the big picture. The gigantic quest of following God requires bold perseverance.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Three simple yet profoundly difficult steps:

  1. Hold Fast
  2. Confess Your Hope
  3. Don’t Waver

He is the master-designer. If we follow his blueprint for life in the end it will form a beautiful masterpiece of His love and grace. The main point is this: HE WHO PROMISED IS FAITHFUL.

You are Invited on a Prayer Journey

You Are Invited on a Prayer Journey

Every journey has a beginning. The starting point of prayer is God. Like a father who waits to hear every detail of your life, He waits for you. You don’t need to get dressed up and go to church to reverently pray. The God of the universe invites you to come as you are. You can endure anything when you are at God’s side. He is the transformer. He turns sorrow to joy. He turns bitter to sweet. I wrote Women Who Move Mountains: Praying with Confidence, Grace, and Boldness with you in mind!

Women Who move mountains in prayer

Prayer is an Exercise in Faith

As you come close to God in prayer, He brings purpose even from the brokenness of your life. You can’t remain downcast when you turn your face upward to God. He reaches down to your lowest pit, but He doesn’t leave you there.

So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain.

Psalm 3:2–4

Negative thoughts may try to convince you that God will never rescue you. Prayer rinses these plaguing doubts from your mind. As you cry out to God, He answers you. He shields you with His presence. The more you know God, the more you trust Him.

Overwhelm Fear with Faith-Filled Prayer

Overwhelm Fear with Faith-Filled Prayer

Have you ever been in a stress-filled situation and said, “I’m overwhelmed.” To be overwhelmed in today’s world means that you have such a flood of things coming towards you that you are unable to think clearly. You feel stressed, anxious and out of sort. Your busyness has gotten out of control so that life is coming at you rather than you purposefully living your life to the full.

faith-filled prayer

To overwhelm fear with faith-filled prayer means that you overcome your flesh and the enemy through prayer. This means that you overcome, overpower, destroy and crush fear under your feet. You need to aggressively overthrow fear so that rather than being overwhelmed, you overwhelm the enemy.

Schedule Consistent Prayer and a Place to Pray

As simple as it sounds, spend time in prayer. Choose a place to pray and schedule a time on your calendar and then keep your appointment with God. Your destiny depends on your consistency. Even with this said, do not become overly-religious with this and set impossible goals for yourself. If you are having trouble praying for 5 minutes, do not write down a goal to pray 5 hours. Start where you are and grow deep. Reading this book is going to increase your desire to spend time with God.

Spend Daily Time in God’s Word

The ammunition in your arsenal to annihilate the enemy is the Word of God. If you have a shallow approach to God’s word, you will only have surface victories. To have a deep, satisfying relationship with God and consistently defeat the devil you must consistently wield your sword, which is the Word of God.

Steadily Invest Time in Meditation and Declaration

The North American Church neglects the power of meditation to transform your mindset and inform your character. The Psalmist talks about the spiritual life of someone who is blessed and prosperous.

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law He meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.

That brings forth its fruit in its season

Whose leaf does not wither

And whatever he does shall prosper.”

Psalm 1:2-3 NKJV

The Biblical practice of meditation is often neglected during the contemporary social media era where we are bombarded by messages every day.  To meditate means that you reflect, ponder, and contemplate God’s word in a holistic way. It is not a mental exercise only. If you go and observe the Jews spending time meditating at the “Wailing Wall” in Jerusalem you will see that their meditation consistently move to declaration. The jews may rock back and forth while meditation upon Scriptures and praying intense prayers, or wailing to God.

Declarative prayer is when you activate the biblical knowledge of God’s word, will, and ways into spoken prayer. You are literally declaring the word of God out-loud. Sometimes, you are reading out-loud written prayers that are based on the Bible. As you confess the truth of God from your lips, you activate your faith and obliterate your fear.

Strategically Plan Your Day and Abide in Christ

If you are constantly aware of God’s presence and power as you walk through your daily life you will overpower the enemy. You and I need to plan our days under the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit. We need to schedule our day and prioritize what God is calling us to do and not be distracted by the enemy.

You may already know that you should do the tactical maneuvers listed above, yet if you are like me you are not 100% activating your faith and walking this out. Relax, none of us are walking this out 100% of the time. All of us fall short of what God fully intends for our life of prayer.

The War Room: Learning to Fight in Prayer (Linkup)

Do You have The War Room in Your House?

The day that I fell on my face before God to cry out for transformation in my marriage, was the day I learned how to go to war for my marriage.  I went into the prayer room proud, thinking that I was in the right. I left the prayer room humbled, knowing that I needed to change in order for my marriage to change. You can read more here. Download Here

The War Room

Learning to battle in prayer for your relationships can have a life-and-death impact. Many people talk about prayer and share prayer requests. Few people actually enter into The War Room on behalf of another. I was powerfully impacted by the moving The War Room.  Watch this trailer about the movie. Each one of us need to learn how to fight in prayer. The battle is won on our knees. Learning to pray strategically is a matter of life and death.

What I Learned from The War Room

As I sat watching the movie, I found myself weeping through most of it. I knew that I was in the presence of God in that movie theatre. I was impacted by the struggle of the wife (played by Priscilla Shirer), to learn how to pray for her husband. She had every intention of praying, but she had to take away all the distractions to prayer. There is a scene where she is sitting in her prayer closet eating a bag of chips. Although it was a funny moment, all too often we lose the battle before we even start.  Since moving into our new home in Texas, I have struggled to find “my place” in prayer. In the past, I had exact places where I liked to pray and I could pray out-loud without distraction. Our Texas home has an open architecture where you can hear everything. My office no longer has a door on it. We also regularly have a full house. After watching the movie, I feel like I have a new strategy. I decided to pack up all my clothes, and just keep out the bare minimum of what I wear every day. I have the biggest closet that I have ever had in my life, so I was able to transform my closet into The WAR Room.  I purchased some white poster board from the grocery store. I plan on posting the following on my Prayer Wall:

  • Names of Family Members

  • Names of Leadership Team of Life Bridge Church

  • Names of People I Have Divine Appointments with

I also plan on listing all the goals I have for the year:

  • Personal Goals (like losing weight & working out)

  • Financial Goals (like harvesting funds to plant Life Bridge Church)

  • Outreach Goals (praying for the lost and seeing transformation in lives)

  • Professional Goals (launching a book & a podcast)

I also plan to list positive confessions to pray out-loud

  • Prayers for my husband ( I have written prayers in my book for marriages)

  • Prayers for my children (I have written prayers in my book for moms)

  • Positive Confessions (Scriptures that God has given me to believe Him in prayer)

Prayer is for All Ages

Sometimes we make prayer seem like a difficult exercise, but really it is just having an ongoing conversation with God. I find that I am attracted to how children are so easily able to enjoy God and invite Him into their everyday lives. When we were watching The War Room at the Theatre, I felt a little tug on my two and met 2 friends. I interviewed these 2 experts who gave their review of The War Room. Watch their short movie review:
