Faith Unlocks Destiny

Faith fueled the desire to run in a sickly, poor black girl with braces on her legs from polio. “I’m tired of being sick” she told her doctor who had treated her for scarlet fever, whooping cough, measles and chicken pox. Every morning she got up and put on the cold braces on her legs, but her heart was warmed with faith. She had fight in her spirit. Her name was Wilma Rudolph who in 1960 became the first American woman to win three gold medals at a single Olympic Games.

How does a a crippled girl fight through sickness, poverty, and racism to achieve her dreams?– FAITH!

Every God-sized dream requires faith to open the door.  What God-sized dream do you have in your life that needs to be unlocked by faith?

Faith is believing in the power of God to prevail in your life situation. Faith is a confident belief and hope and fuels consistency and determination.

To have faith is to believe in the power of God to change the universe through the simplicity and mystery of walking with God.

Faith courageously moves forward convinced that God is all knowing, all powerful, and always present. Faith is fearless reliance on the God of the universe to be personally involved in the daily details of life.

If you want to succeed in life, you gotta have faith. You have to believe that as a result of your prayers that God will reward you when purposefully pursue Him:

“And it is impossible to please God without faith.

Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists

and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

To be diligent is to actively and energetically chase after God. It’s not as though He is hiding from you. It’s similar to when you were little and played hide-and-seek with your father. He wasn’t really hiding when He stood behind the tree. He was anticipating that you would find him.

He longs to be discovered for who He truly is. He created us with a capacity to be intimate. To actively pursue God through prayer fulfills our own longing in the soul of desiring to know and be known. There is no one who knows us better than the ONE who created us and established a purpose for our lives. He is the ONE who impregnates you with vision for your destiny in life. But only you can carry his dream to fulfillment. You have to put your faith into action.

Putting Faith into Action

When Wilma Rudolph began to run, she was putting her faith into action. She became fearless in her resolve to pursue her dream. She had no promises that she would succeed, but her legs became stronger with each length that she ran.

You put your faith into action every time you overcome your fears…

…fears of failure

…fears of the unknown

…fears of humiliation

…fears of rejection

…fears of pain

I don’t know what your list of fears are — but I know that if you are human, you have struggled with fear. Fear is a common foe to all of us. It chases us down in the middle of the night. It accuses us and assaults us by parading our imperfection before us. Fear shows us the difficult climb ahead. Fear takes facts and twists them till they become exaggerated in our minds.
