Success occurs when we accomplish our God-given purpose in life. Sometimes just a one degree difference can propel us forward into our calling. God has made us with an innate desire to succeed.

I found this video inspiring.

The difference between hot water (211 Degrees) and Boiling Water (212 Degrees) is only 1 Degree.  When water boils you have steam. With steam you can power a train.

The extra degree is something we can all apply every day. We can be focused and faithful to the task at hand.

Like parenting, our daily delight and care for our children makes a difference in their lives. When we are focused on them and present in their world we help them feel secure in their gifting. Sometimes just one extra word of encouragement can make a difference that day.

This concept applies to all of our lives. B.C. Forbes said, “Triumph is always nearest when defeat seems inescapable.” God gives us the strength of character to maintain our diligence even when things look bleak.

Every great leader has faced major crises. The iron lady prime minister of Great Britain Margaret Thatcher said, “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” I love this quote. Often we become disappointed if something doesn’t work the first time. Our conviction must be strengthened as we stand fast on God’s promises in our lives.

We need to move forward confident in God’s call. We need to loose ourselves from all distractions and run to win. Paul said,

“You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 MSG

Run to win. There are so many that are in it for man-made success. If you are in this to bring glory to God in all that you do, you are focused on the eternal reward. God-made success is running to win with the wind of the Holy Spirit infusing you with His power and perspective.

So today, be encouraged. God is doing more behind your back than in front of your face. You are farther along than you think. You are closer to victory as you put your trust in God to lead you and guide you every step of the way.
