Boldness becomes a vital necessity on our journey to claim God’s promises. Approaching the throne of grace with confidence is acknowledging God’s goodness and His responsiveness to our prayers. With Jesus as our intercessor and the Holy Spirit as our advocate and comforter, we’re invited to approach Him with childlike hearts, exchanging our weakness for His strength.
Bold Beginnings: Overcoming Timidity with Confident Faith
The Apostle Paul said to Timothy: “ I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7.
A “spirit of fear” manifests in our lives through timidity and can look like this:
1. Fear of Rejection:
- Timidity often stems from a fear of reject
ion or not meeting others’ expectations.
2. Lack of Confidence:
- Timid individuals may struggle with self-doubt and a lack of confidence in their abilities or worth.
3. Avoidance of Risk:
- Those with timidity might avoid taking risks or stepping out of their comfort zones due to a fear of failure or criticism.
4. Difficulty in Assertiveness:
- Timid individuals may struggle to assertively express their opinions, needs, or desires in various situations.
5. Overcoming Challenges:
- Timidity can hinder personal and professional growth as individuals may avoid challenges or opportunities that require stepping into the unknown.
Example of the Boldness of a Child
Hebrew 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
By approaching the throne of grace boldly, we gain access to God’s boundless mercy and grace, finding the support we need in times of weakness. Knowing that Jesus, our High Priest, understands our weaknesses and temptations, empowers us to boldly present our concerns, knowing He can empathize with our struggles. Our bold prayers attract God’s attention and intervention in our moments of need.
