Within each of us is a desire to fulfill our God-given potential. 2014 can be your best year ever as you learn to love your dreams and set goals to reach forward in faith. So cross out the first 2 letters of “Impossible” and make “possible” the dreams that God has placed in your heart. Here are 5 Ways to your Best Year Ever:
1. Love your Dreams
When I was a little girl I dreamed that I was able to fly. In my dream world I had many ways of flying. Sometimes I would start running and just run into the sky. Other times I would fly over people by making swimming motions with my arms. My favorite way to fly in my dreams was to jump off of my diving board doing a swan dive but gracefully stretch out my arms and float through the sky.
Why is it when we get older that we rarely have carefree dreams? Our night dreams are more likely to be filled with stress or anxiety. And in the day time, we stop dreaming about how life could be. We are so busy adjusting to how life is.
Now I am a mom of 6 children, so I am all for the practical side of life. But as a mom, what dreams have you dreamed lately? Are you soaring through the sky with an epic new idea or are you so weighed down by laundry and grocery shopping that you don’t fly anymore?
Let 2014 be a year that you allow yourself to be weightless. Let go of the weight of finances. Let go of the weight of responsibilities. Let go of the weight of worry.
Close your eyes and ask God to visit your mind with the sweet child-like wonder of dreams. Dreams for your life… dreams for your children… dreams for your marriage… dreams for your community… dreams that only God could think up… dreams that only God could fulfill.
2. Love your Uniqueness
2014 will be your best year ever when you strop trying to fit in and let your self stand out. You are unique. It may be in quiet ways or in bold ways. One thing is for sure, there is no one quite like you.
Boring begins when we all try to fit into a mold. Exciting happens when we enjoy the quirkiness of everyone’s personality.
One thing wonderful about being older is that you can be at peace in your own skin. You don’t have to please anyone else. You don’t need to keep up with the neighbors. You can just be you.
Learn to love your uniqueness. When’s the last time you just enjoyed being you?! The sweet sense of contentment resides in the wonder of being one-of-a-kind.
3. Love your Purpose
2014 will be an epic year if you love your purpose. Your purpose is found at the “bulls-eye” of you gifts and your message. God has a plan for everyone of us. It is His message that we carry. We are His messengers.
God’s purpose can be lived out through our lives in so many ways…. getting married… having children… adopting… working… hospitality…generosity…serving.
Loving your purpose does not mean that you struggle or strain to make a name for yourself. God’s name is the name that is before every name– your purpose is to make His name known. That doesn’t mean that everyone is called to be a preacher in a church. You share God’s message every time your pick your child up and wipe away their tears.
4. Love your Identity
You know who you really are when you embrace your identity in Christ. You have been bought with a price. Of course you have made mistakes. Jesus paid for your mistakes (sin) on the cross.
But praise God you are not bound by this past mistakes. You are made free to walk with God as your Father. You can rise up knowing that you have been created in His image. You bear His likeness.
You are a masterpiece fashioned by a master-artisan. You can love your identity as you love God who made you like Himself.
5. Love your Goals
2014 will be your best year ever as you love your goals. Goals are tools in God’s hands to help you move forward in faith. Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals means that they are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.
Your goals help move you down the field of your life accomplishing what God has called you to do. Loving your goals will help you realize your potential in Christ.

2014 is going to be the best year ever. One of my goals is to blog 3 times a week. I am off to a slow start, but by God’s grace will pick up steam.
I have just made the goal to participate each month. Sometimes it can be hard to write.
Michael is right. Facing fear grows confidence big time! I wait for God’s leading as He is always in charge. Sometimes my plans have to be flexible because His plans for my life have to take precedence. I am here to serve Him!
I so agree with you! Flexibility is key.
I love the SMART acrostic. I will have to commit it to memory. Thanks for the reminders.
Great reminders. Thanks for sharing! I’m visiting via the blog hop!
I love practical suggestions when it comes to something as (often) intangible as dreams and goals. Great reminder, too, that our purpose is to “make his name known!”
So true! We need to keep that before us always!
