Recently, I had the honor of appearing on Hope Today on the Cornerstone Television Network to share my story and the message behind my book Healing Rain: Immersing Yourself in Christ’s Love. We talked about how God heals in body, mind, and spirit—and how His healing power still reaches into the deepest wounds of our lives.

This message is profoundly personal to me. It was born out of one of the hardest seasons of my life—the painful loss of my son Dre, whom my husband Wayne and I adopted from Brazil. Through the anguish, trauma, and grief, I encountered Jesus as Healer. He didn’t just comfort me; He healed my heart.

The Heart Is the Center of Our Need for Healing

One of the hardest parts of death is its finality on this earth. There are no more conversations, no more holidays, no more birthday parties with the one we love.

In our sorrow, we often run from pain instead of waiting on Jesus to heal our hearts. But unhealed trauma becomes a feeding ground for the enemy. When our pain exceeds our joy, we become vulnerable to his attacks.

Even small traumas can quietly shape our beliefs and behaviors, holding us back from the fullness of joy that is our inheritance. But Jesus is the only One who can heal the brokenhearted and make us whole—body, mind, and spirit.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

Healing Begins in the Heart

The heart is where healing starts. Our hearts are complex—full of memories, desires, and motivations. Only Jesus can go to the root of pain and restore peace from the inside out.

When our souls (our mind, will, and emotions) are not at rest, it’s a heart issue. Sometimes the Holy Spirit takes us back to old wounds, exposing the lies we believed so that truth can set us free.

It’s easier to hide anger or numb pain than to surrender it. But freedom comes when we bring our bruised hearts to Father God.

The Hebrew word for heartlev—means the inner essence or center of being. The Israelites believed that thinking, feeling, and choosing all flowed from the heart.

That’s why Proverbs 4:23 says:

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

When your heart is renewed, your thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being align with God’s truth. This is how God heals in body, mind, and spirit—from the inside out.

A Renewed Heart: The Key to Lasting Freedom

After his moral failure, David cried out,

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

David understood that transformation doesn’t start with behavior—it starts with the heart.

When my own heart shattered after losing Dre, I discovered that grief isn’t linear. It comes in waves. But in those waves, I found Jesus steady and near. He wept with me. He sat with me. And little by little, He exchanged my sorrow for peace.

That’s what Healing Rain is about—learning to immerse yourself in the presence of Jesus until His love seeps into every crack of your soul. Healing is not a single event but a lifelong invitation to live under the rain of His mercy.

The Trap of a Troubled Heart

In John 14, Jesus spoke tenderly to His disciples, who were about to face devastating loss:

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me.” — John 14:1 (NLT)

The Greek word for troubled (tarassesthō) means to agitate or disturb. When your inner world is stirred by fear, disappointment, or uncertainty, your peace begins to fracture.

Jesus didn’t deny the storm; He gave the disciples the key to peace:

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You.” — Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

When sorrow filled their hearts, Jesus reminded them that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). The same is true today—God heals in body, mind, and spirit as we fix our hearts on Him.

He replaces confusion with clarity, grief with grace, and fear with faith.

From Trauma to Transformation

Losing a child is a trauma that pierces the soul. Yet I can testify: God heals trauma. He redeems it instead of erasing it.

Through prayer, worship, and surrender, the Lord touched the deepest parts of my pain. I began to see Dre not as lost forever, but alive in eternity with Jesus. That revelation transformed my grief into purpose.

Healing doesn’t mean the absence of pain—it means the presence of Jesus in your pain.

Every scar becomes a story of grace. Every wound becomes a well for others to drink hope from. That’s how God heals in body, mind, and spirit—He turns brokenness into beauty.

Peace for Your Heart Today

Before ascending to Heaven, Jesus promised:

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.” — John 14:27 (NLT)

No matter what kind of brokenness you carry—physical illness, emotional pain, or spiritual dryness—bring it to Him. He still heals. He still restores.

Let His Healing Rain wash over you today.
