Heritage of Truth TV

Our heritage is our inheritance or birthright. It is valuing the legacy of truth passed down the generations.

What a privilege to be interviewed by Jeanne Dennis of Heritage of Truth. Here’s the interview:

Sue Detweiler: 9 Traits of a Life-Giving Mom from Jeanne Dennis on Vimeo.

God Uses Our Weaknesses

One of my favorite parts of the interview comes at the end. I just finished sharing with Jeanne weak areas in my life as a mom. Then I look at her and I say, “And God used me to write a book to moms.”

Isn’t it amazing how God uses our Weakness? The very things that we struggle with the most, God redeems and uses for His glory… He uses our tests and makes them into our testimonies.

What You are Struggling with Today Can Help Someone Tomorrow

The enemy wants us to give up. He wants to make it seem like life will never change. Those self-destructive thoughts won’t help anyone. It’s when you give the struggle to God that He redeems it. Use these 3 simple steps to help turn things around in your life:

1. Belief that God Can and Will Help You

Sometimes the steps to turning things around are simpler than you would imagine. It begins when you turn to God in your desperation. When you realize that you CAN’T but He CAN – that’s a start.

2. Believe that Life Can and Will be Different

When your mind focuses on the pattern of your struggle or how long it has lasted, the enemy tries to convince you that life will never change. The triumph of a transformed mind is that it leads to a transformed life. Begin to picture life different.

For me, it was beginning to picture myself like God had spoken into my heart. When I was at my worst he said “You can be the best mom in the world, with MY help.”  I believed Him, and life as a mom began to change.

3. Believe that You Can and Will Get Through This

I thought being a mom with babies in diapers and nursing would never end… But it did. I remember being relieved when I didn’t have to carry a diaper bag around or put my children in car seats. I thought I would never get through the tough parts of being a mom – but I did.

I don’t know what areas you are struggling with today, but I do know that God can and will get you through it! Believe in Him and watch your life change.
