5 Ways to Get Rid of Fear #FearlessFaith

Fear Puts God on Trial

When we are fearful or anxious we are declaring that we can’t fully trust in God to care about the details of our lives.

Fear, anxiety, intimidation are part of the family of the enemy. Satan’s schematic for your life is that you will be constantly stressed, uncertain, and hesitant about your daily lie. He snares you through your desire to please man more than God.

Sin starts when I partner with fear. It’s not a sin to feel anxiety, its when I embrace dread that it poisons the perspective of my mind.

If we don’t replace fear with faith, we will be led down the dangerous path of unbelief and disobedience. Unbelief accuses God at His very essence. It puts God on trial to prove Himself while denying the undeniable evidence all around.

To engage in prayer is to declare war on the demonic forces of intimidation that accuse God. These accusations can come as subtle thoughts against the power of God. Fear will manifest as insecurity, concern, despair, doubt dread, horror, panic, agitation, unease, fright, and terror.

If you are struggling with some sort of anxiety in your life, you can know without a doubt that worry has come from the enemy.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity,

but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:6

Many of us do not fulfill the call of God on our lives because we are shackled by timidity. Every time we try to move forward, the devil uses intimidation to try to stop us.

Doubt will make you want to stand still and hesitate. Anxiety accuses God for every difficult thing that you have experienced in your life. We let doubth have power over us when we try to self protect and not experience pain. The dread of lack, failure, rejection, or abandonment take hold in our lives if we haven’t thoroughly invited God in to help us overcome emotional pain and loss.

You and I need to learn to step out and obey God in spite of panic. Sometimes, you have to do what God says even when you feel afraid.

Faith Unlocks Destiny #FearlessFaith

Faith Unlocks Destiny

Faith fueled the desire to run in a sickly, poor black girl with braces on her legs from polio. “I’m tired of being sick” she told her doctor who had treated her for scarlet fever, whooping cough, measles and chicken pox. Every morning she got up and put on the cold braces on her legs, but her heart was warmed with faith. She had fight in her spirit. Her name was Wilma Rudolph who in 1960 became the first American woman to win three gold medals at a single Olympic Games.

Faith Unlocks Destiny

How does a a crippled girl fight through sickness, poverty, and racism to achieve her dreams?– FAITH!

Every God-sized dream requires faith to open the door.  What God-sized dream do you have in your life that needs to be unlocked by faith?

Faith is believing in the power of God to prevail in your life situation. Faith is a confident belief and hope and fuels consistency and determination.

To have faith is to believe in the power of God to change the universe through the simplicity and mystery of walking with God.

Faith courageously moves forward convinced that God is all knowing, all powerful, and always present. Faith is fearless reliance on the God of the universe to be personally involved in the daily details of life.

If you want to succeed in life, you gotta have faith. You have to believe that as a result of your prayers that God will reward you when purposefully pursue Him:

“And it is impossible to please God without faith.

Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists

and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

To be diligent is to actively and energetically chase after God. It’s not as though He is hiding from you. It’s similar to when you were little and played hide-and-seek with your father. He wasn’t really hiding when He stood behind the tree. He was anticipating that you would find him.

He longs to be discovered for who He truly is. He created us with a capacity to be intimate. To actively pursue God through prayer fulfills our own longing in the soul of desiring to know and be known. There is no one who knows us better than the ONE who created us and established a purpose for our lives. He is the ONE who impregnates you with vision for your destiny in life. But only you can carry his dream to fulfillment. You have to put your faith into action.

Putting Faith into Action

When Wilma Rudolph began to run, she was putting her faith into action. She became fearless in her resolve to pursue her dream. She had no promises that she would succeed, but her legs became stronger with each length that she ran.

You put your faith into action every time you overcome your fears…

…fears of failure

…fears of the unknown

…fears of humiliation

…fears of rejection

…fears of pain

I don’t know what your list of fears are — but I know that if you are human, you have struggled with fear. Fear is a common foe to all of us. It chases us down in the middle of the night. It accuses us and assaults us by parading our imperfection before us. Fear shows us the difficult climb ahead. Fear takes facts and twists them till they become exaggerated in our minds.

Everyday Moments – Sue Detweiler – #LifeGivingLinkup

Everyday Moments

Everyday Moments

It’s the every day moments of being a mom that are unique. No one can take away the memories of watching your daughter take her first steps or teaching your son to ride the bike.

Mother’s Day 2015 from Preston Trail on Vimeo.

Yesterday I was teary eyed…

Have you ever noticed that you can have conflicting emotions as a mom. You can be happy and sad at the same time. Yesterday I was pulled by these powerful emotions. On the one hand, I had a beautiful brunch made my my daughter Sarah Faith who flew in town for Mother’s Day. With Flowers on the table from my husband and an abundance of cards from my children, I was more than blessed. So why was I teary-eyed?

Season’s Change

If you have faced any type of life-change you understand. Every mom I know holds each of her children deep in her heart. We miss each one when they are not around our table at Mother’s Day.

Everyday Moments everyday moments

I love seeing this picture of my beautiful mom and I with our matching dresses. The two pictures told a story of what our life was like as a family. I was the only girl with three older brothers. Notice how content I was before my brother stole my cat!

These everyday moments are precious!

When my daughters were all young teens, I began to do this thing that I would hold up my hands and pretend to take a picture through out the day. This was before I had an I-phone and could literally take pictures every moment. I would take these imaginary snapshots to remember the ordinary times that were in reality extraordinary.

Seizing the Season

Everyone of us as human beings face daily choices. We could hold onto the past and fight a losing battle as we try to keep everything the same, or we can move forward in faith. God’s word says,

…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,  I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:13-14 NLT

Living in faith in the everyday moments of our lives requires us to:

1. Let Go of Our Past

Letting go of the difficult things in our lives is not as difficult as letting go of the good things.

The most difficult thing in answering God’s call to plant a church north of Dallas Texas was that we would be leaving our adult daughters in Tennessee. Just thinking about that was heart-wrenching for me as a mom. I remember walking with my mom on a path outside our Tennessee home. At one point my mom stopped and looked at me and said, “You have a call of God on your life. You have raised your daughter’s. You need to answer God’s call. ”

I don’t know what wonderful things in your past that you need to let go of, but I do know that God will show you how to answer His call in your life. There will be bitter with the sweet. The season is changing anyway, you may as well embrace it with grace and dignity.

2. Live in the Present

What is if about your present life, that you can savor and enjoy?  Are you finding the everyday moments to delight in?  For Wayne and I, it has been discovering the joy of being happily married. We like the simplicity of eating our meals together around a smaller table with fewer dishes. We like our freedom to go on dates.

Most of all, I love the excitement of building a new church from scratch. I love being available to have “divine appointments” every day. I love building relationships with people in our community. I love the fact that God has opened doors for me to write and speak to a growing national community.

3. Lay Hold of the Future

What is it in your future that God is calling you to? Are you willing to take the risk of letting go of the past in order to lay hold of the future?  It’s really about trust isn’t it?

Next year at this time, Life Bridge Church will be launched north of Dallas Texas. There will be a new community of faith celebrating Mother’s Day together. My husband and I and our launch team will have the privilege of “giving birth” to this body of believer’s. We will experience the miracle of being a community carrying the presence and power of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet.

Rapid Response Team – Sharing Hope in Crises

Since 9/11 the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has been sharing hope in times of crises. Volunteer chaplains are trained and deployed to fulfill God’s word in Psalm 147:3He heals the brokenheartedand bandages their wounds.” (NLT). The Rapid Response Chaplains are available early on to respond to the needs as they arise.
